The central cross is the central structure of the AR.Drone. It is made of PA 66 high grade plastic with 4 crossed fiber carbon tubes inserted and 4 PA 66 motor mount. This part has been designed to be light and strong. The engine mount allows easy removal and reassembly of the motors. The motor mount incorporates two self-lubricating bronze plain bearings. The central cross has an arrow mark showing how it must be inserted into the body set. The central cross includes two wire beams. One to bring the battery power to the engines, and a another one composed of a 5V supply to control every motor. They are terminated by a connector for each motor controller.

The AR.Drone has been designed to be easy to maintain. Every part can be replaced when damaged, and the included tool kit enables you to assemble and disassemble every part of your AR. Drone if necessary. The tool kit includes a Phillips™ screwdriver to remove and reassemble the motors and the Torx™ screwdriver for the main board and the navigation board. Also provided is a special circlip tool used to easily insert and remove the circlips that hold the propellers and gears onto the shafts.

- You will find that they have a Phillips screw driver designed in a thin fit to slide into the deeper recesses of the drone.
How to
Step 1 : Remove the motherboard and nav board
Step 2 : Remove the central cross fixings
Step 3 : Carefully bend the body to remove the damaged central cross
Step 4 : Look for the FRONT indication on the central cross and mount it
Final Step : Replace the nav board and motherboard

@chriscrutch Same thing happened to me. Very frustrating. I’m no newbie to working with small screws, either – These were just way too tight.
I’m kind of thinking that if I can somehow get the four screws (not a single one of the board ones were removable) cut off, I could use the four that held the plastic shield on to replace the board ones… As long as I don’t lose any *more*.
I had awful luck when I last dealt with customer service (one of my motors *literally* burst into flames the moment I first connected the battery – just a few hours home from the shop… It took over a month to get my unit replaced).
